As the United States crossed the 300 million people threshold last week, demographers are looking toward 2043, when the country's population is likely to be 400 million. The Associated Press reports on the demographic changes in store for America. For instance, the typical American neighborhood in 2043 likely will, "Be located in the South or West, despite scarce water resources and gas prices that make $3 a gallon look like a bargain. Barely half of the community's residents will be white, and one in four whites will be senior citizens. Nearly one in four people will be Latino and multiracial Americans will be commonplace."

As the United States population continues to grow along with that of the worlds population, many people fear that humans will destroy the Earth as we continue to use up all the resources. Many feel that this is a problem that should be addressed by governments and people around the world. I do not look at it as a problem. Eventually humans will reach a point where the Earth cannot support more humans and the the population will stabilize. At this point in time, I am sure humans will find a way to escape this planet and start inhabiting other places in the solar system.
I think that 300 million is not a big enough number for the united states yet. Becuase the density (people per square mile) of the US is so low. For example the middle east have a small amount to population. When I was on a airplant from MI to CA at night, there was no light from miles. And, at the point where earth can’t support human life anymore is still far from now. Most of the southern americans are still cover with jungle and forest. Futhermore, the we are still to slow with the techology to go to space. There is no chance that we will begin to live on mar or space.
As stated, the U.S. population has recently reached 300,000,000 people and is expected to reach 400,000,000 in the year 2043. The United States has an incredibly high immigration rate as well as a fertility rate of 2.1, which is quite different than most developed countries with rates typically below replacement level. Americans are consuming more than ever; more energy, land, water, gasoline and countless other natural resources. This extravagant lifestyle will not work for the rest of the world, nor is it sustainable for the U.S. The expanding population will ensure that the U.S. remain an economic world power; in order to thrive however, the U.S. population will need to contain its sprawling growth patterns, and learn to live more sustainable lifestyles.
i think three hundred million people is big enough. i dontr like to live in the city and i dont like to sit in traffic it stresses me out. I can ony imagine 400 million in 2043. Imagine the farmland that will be lost by urban sprawl. We already have a problem in the central valley of california. 1 million more people is too much for me but what can i do not have kids? we are all going to learn to =have much smaller footprints in the environment.
