U.S. Map Test

Sunday October 22, 2006
This Shockwave map test is cutely titled "Can You Pass the Third Grade?" The game involves dragging the name of each of the conterminous 48 U.S. states onto the appropriate location on an outline map of the U.S. The test is timed and scored. It's fun; good luck! (Thanks to GIS Pilot for the link.)

I work really hard to teach my students that some states come in more than one part. Your map says it it wrong for a player to label the northern peninsula of Michigan as Michigan! Please correct this.

The comment “you have to ride the short bus” is insensitive and ignorant. You should change this.

Hi Tammy and Ed! You’re both right! However, the map test is not mine; I merely am linking to it.

the us state map is a great idea but the dragging does not work. so, this is discouraging for children. develop a us map where the children type in the state. grandma

The creator of this test has failed third grade because
some of the states don’t drag and drop properly.
