Saharan Dust Tied to Atlantic Hurricanes?

This article from BBC news reports on a study that found that during times of heavy dust clouds from the Sahara Desert, there are fewer major hurricanes and when there is less dust, there are more major hurricanes. The researchers don't know if the dust has an impact on hurricanes or if the two effects are the result of a global phenomenon.
