Secondary students in Australia selecting geography as their major has dropped in half over the past decade. So true and so sad to watch this happening. I believe that it should be compulsory for a couple of years but then when you have 66 subject choices at our school from which the students can choose what hope is there. With this huge choice comes a concomitant decline in quality geography teachers and no incentive for young teachers to take on this great, diverse subject.
