Ernesto Becomes First Atlantic Hurricane

The U.S. National Hurricane Center is reporting that U.S. Air Force reconnaissance aircraft have determined that sustained winds have reached 75 miles per hour so Tropical Storm Ernesto has been upgraded to a Category One Hurricane Ernesto. Hurricane Ernesto is the fifth named storm but the first hurricane of the 2006 hurricane season.
