30% of English Want Own Country

By , About.com GuideJuly 17, 2006

Follow me on:

Less than a third of English poll respondents hope that England would gain independence and become its own country. In the poll, as reported by the Scotsman. The poll showed that 60% would like to retain the status-quo (i.e. where England remains not a country [as Scotland is also not a country]) and 9% are undecided on the issue. Who knows what happened to the other one percent.

I think the all of British Isles should be a united country. The United Kingdom of the British Isles, including: England, Scotland, Wales, and all of Ireland. This should include: the Channel Islands, Faero Islands, and the Isle of Man. It would then be similar to Japan, which is a united island chain, as opposed to the crazy diivision that now exists in the British Isles. I don’t get the desire for division among the British peoples — Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, and Denmark’s control of the Faero Islands. Geographically, the British Isles are related and should be united, and why not include isolated Iceland as part of a greater United Kingdom?
