Montenegro Becomes World's Newest Country

Formerly part of the country of Serbia and Montenegro, Montenegro has gained independence following a national referendum on May 21 and has become the 193rd country on earth. Montenegro attained full independence on Wednesday, June 28 when it was accepted into the United Nations as that organization's 192nd member. Montenegro's capital and largest city is Podgorica.

I am happy to know that finally, after long years of struggle, that the people of Montenegro can finally call their place as their own independent country. It was a hard battle, but its worth the fight. I hope that peace will reign once more in the Serbia-Croatia-Bosnia-Herzegovina-Montenegro regions. Congratulations for the birth of a new nation!!!
