Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine published a list of the 50 Smart Places to Live in this month's magazine, covering the usual suspects of great cities in the United States. The top five are 1) Nashville, 2) Minneapolis-St. Paul, 3) Albuquerque, 4) Atlanta, and 5) Austin.

I agree with the inclusion of Iowa City, Iowa in this list of smart cities. However the housing costs are so much higher here than in other cities in the region, which means that low-income residents living here don’t have many options.
I disagree with Tacoma on the list, Tacomas a horrible place to live especially compared to Seattle.
