Montenegro Votes For Independence

By , About.com GuideMay 23, 2006

Follow me on:

In last Sunday's referendum, an estimated 55.5% of Montenegrins (just one-half of a percentage point above the necessary 55%), voted for independence from the country of Serbia and Montenegro. Now, Serbia and Montenegro will need to develop a plan for independence, once the votes are finalized. The European Union supports Montenegrin independence and membership in the EU.

Montenegro gets it’s independance thanks to Albanians and Croats. Real Montenegrin wanted to stay together with Serbia!
