Restaurant ZIP Code

Follow me on:

I was at IHOP, having pancakes this morning, when I heard a neighboring patron herald to the waiter while she was on her cellular phone. She asked the waiter for the ZIP Code of the restaurant! I quickly presumed that she wasn't talking to a friend who wanted to mail a letter to the IHOP but instead, was asking for the ZIP Code, to better help the friend obtain online driving directions from a place like Google Maps, etc. Fortunately, the waiter knew the ZIP Code but I'm sure that question wasn't asked much a decade ago. i have found that zip codes are the single most useful bit of information i can have when i am searching the maps on the internet. before beginning to rely more on the net than paper maps, not so.
