Man Made Ponds Capture 20% of U.S. Runoff

Geomorphologists have determined that man-made ponds collect one-fifth of the runoff produced as part of the hydrologic cycle. This runoff, which would be destined for natural lakes and rivers, collects in artificial ponds, changing the nature of sedimentation.
