Despite the fact that "New Zealander" and "Kiwi" are not ethnicity options on next week's New Zealand Census, many are planning to write in those ethnicities in opposition to the official government survey. In the 2001 Census, the New Zealand Herald reports that some 78,000 wrote one of those two options on the census form. An email campaign is making the rounds, encouraging more to do it in this latest 5-year census for the island nation of just over 4 million.
