Katrina and Rita Destroyed Significant Coastal Marsh

According to researchers, 118 square miles of coastal marsh in Southeast Louisiana was destroyed and converted into open water due to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. The coastal marshes serve as a natural hurricane buffer.
