GPS System Upgrade

U.S. Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary David Sampson announced that a new GPS satellite that broadcasts a commercial-grade upgrade signal called L2C that improves the accuracy of GPS receivers, especially in urban areas and indoors. Additional improved signals are anticipated in the next year or so. The Global Positioning System is operated by the U.S. Department of Defense and is free for the world to use.
