February 2 is World Wetlands Day; it's the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on February 2, 1971. The day has been celebrated since 1997. This year's theme is "Wetlands and water - supporting life, sustaining livelihoods."
