Snowstorm Scale Issued

NOAA has issued a snowstorm categorization system to allow quantification of snowstorms that strike the Northeast United States. The categories of future large snowstorms can be ranked as: Notable, Significant, Major, Crippling or Extreme. These categories will not be forecasts but to quantify the snowstorm as it unfolds.
