Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Street, Road, etc.

Sunday January 15, 2006
There are over 730 cities or towns in 39 states that have streets named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 70% of those street names are in the states of Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, and North Carolina and Georgia (which leads the pack with at least 105 named streets.) East Carolina University geographer Derek Alderman developed these facts and more from the Winston-Salem Journal.

How can I find out if a street in Uptown Charlotte, NC, was recently changed to Martin Luther King?

(2) Mark says:

2nd Street is now officially Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The street signs are up.

Also, the last time I checked…the new NASCAR HOF (Hall of Fame) will be on the property that is bordered by the following streets Uptown (locals call it downtown):

Brevard, Caldwall, Stonewall and Martin Luther King Blvd.

(and I think it is ironic that the address for the NASCAR HOF will be on MLK Blvd.) ;)

Check out my blog above. I’m trying to get folks to tell me about the MLK street that is closest to where they live, and to vote in my poll related to the article.

What 11 states do not have a Martin Luther King Jr. boulevard?

(7) Puzzling Evidence says:

Probably states that do not feel the need to play up to white guilt.

Or perhaps they are states that have small or no population of “community activists.” You know, rub the sores of discontent and introduce socialism – community activism.

We shall overcome…. blah blah…. Where is my damn firehose ???
