Geographers Study Evacuation

Geographers at the University of South Carolina's Hazards Research Lab studied evacuations in Graniteville and Warrenville, South Carolina which stemmed from a train derailment which included a chlorine tanker spill. The researchers found that some individuals and families evacuated without instructions to do so, which poses problems as these "shadow evacuations" can pose logistical hurdles.
