No Representation for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Thursday April 21, 2005
The U.S. State Department refuses to recognize an individual in Los Angeles who claims to be the "Honorary Consul for the Republic of Northern Cyprus." This is due to the fact that the U.S. doesn't recognize the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," as an independent country. Therefore, according to a State Department spokesman, "there cannot be any diplomatic or official representation of it in the United States, including honorary consuls or consulates."
