The Vatican City is a Country

Believe it or not, the world's smallest country, which is smaller than the Mall in Washington D.C., is actually an independent country! The Vatican City meets the definition of an independent country based on the eight criteria used by political geographers to determine whether a place is a place or a State with a capital "s." So what’s up with this? You say in this article that the Vatican City is a country, but your other article says it is not. Here is from your other article mentioned above: “Thus, the Vatican City does meet all eight criteria for independent country status so we should consider it as an independent State.”
