Comet Craters in Antarctica

What's in Antarctica? Ice. However, scientists recently used satellites to see under the ice sheet and found numerous comet craters, the largest being 200 miles across. All the craters are believed to have been caused by comets or comet fragments that hit the earth approximately 780,000 years ago. Since the world was in an ice age at the time, the environmental impact of the strikes was reduced.
