500,000 New Homes in Texas

Texas grew by a half-million homes from April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2003, leading the nation in the number of new housing units constructed during that time. Nevada led all states by percentage with a 13 percent increase in the number of homes over the 39-month period and was followed by Arizona, Colorado and Georgia (all about 9 percent) and Utah (8 percent).
