Florida's Senators have authored a bill to establish a federal "Ponce de Leon Discovery of Florida Quincentennial Commission" of 12 individuals to plan celebrations surrounding the 500th anniversary celebration of Ponce de Leon's landing in Florida, which takes place in 2013. Senator Bob Graham stated that the commission would "Enhance the public's knowledge about the impact of Florida's discovery on the history of the United States."

Why hasn’t Ponce de’leon been taught in public schools? He’s not in my college text (AMERICAN HISTORY A SURVEY VOLUME I, 13th EDITION . ALAN BRINKLEY, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY) I don’t attend this college however this is the book my college uses.

Miami’s cultural dignatries. Even our commissioning Architect was excluded. Read our story and help us have our rightful credit placed to our work. Cultural corruption denies historical truth.
