The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a new website called Historical Hurricane Tracks which allows users to find out how many tropical storms and hurricanes have hit a given area on the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf Coasts in the last 150 years and on the Pacific Coast in the last 50 years, as well as the paths those storms took. For GISers, the data can be extracted as shapefiles. It's a very interesting and very informative site; check it out if you live in hurricane country, or even if you live in California (yes, hurricanes and tropical storms have hit California!)
