Here's an interesting column from Mauritius about the potential (eventual?) addition of Russia to the EU, thus expanding the border of "Europe" to the Pacific Ocean.
I think maybe you should take a closer look at the issues surrounding EU enlargment, i.e. your comment about relentless expansion seems far fetched with the emphasis now on enlargment fatigue within the EU. A nice idea but wholly unrealistic!

Well, Russia is a federation and much larger than the EU… So it may be asked whether the EU will join Russian Federation as the Member States would become federated states:):)
