The first hurricane ever known to have occured in the South Atlantic struck Brazil on Sunday. The Brazilian Center for Weather Prediction and Climatic Studies denies that the storm was a hurricane while the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Florida estimated the storm was a full-fledged, Category One hurricane with central winds of between 75 mph and 80 mph.
