National Geographic's Traveler magazine asked 200 tourism, geography, and environmental specialists to rank places according to their ability to withstand the pressures of environmental problems, cultural erosion and mass tourism. The top rated places are: 1) Fjords of Norway, 2) South Island, New Zealand, 3) Cape Breton Island, Canada, 4) Torres del Paine, Chile, 5) Tasmania, 6) Rocky Mountains, Canada, 7) Scottish Highlands, 8) Kruger National Park, South Africa, 9) Kyoto historic district, Japan, and 10) Quebec City historic center. Not many locations in the U.S.A. on the list, huh?
