Gary is a very small city and the economy is not good right now. Alot of young people do not make wise decisions as to what they are going to do with their life, and alot of (younger) parents do not play an active positive role in their child’s raising. Alot of parents allow BET/MTV to raise their kids, or someone whois just as bad. Most of our young men that in order to be successful, you need to sell all the drugs you possibly can, or to rob as many people as you can. The condition of Gary is the people who live in Gary Fault.

Gary, Indiana is my hometown. I left in the 60′s as the city was starting to change due to the steel mills closing down and jobs going overseas. Please remember that Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, Carl Malden the actor and the Nobel prize winner, Joe Stiglitz all are from Gary Indiana. My parents lived there until the 80′s — and only left when my Dad was badly beaten twice when he was out walking his dog near Holy Angels. I hope that the good citizens of Gary can take it back.

I work in Gary, Indiana and the moment I told my mum that was where I got a job she freaked and told me to find someplace else to work. I had no idea it was this bad. A man got shot at a gas station down the road from where I work. Another man was hit by a car last year around Halloween. The buildings are so old and beautiful but, this city is done for. If I had the financial backing I would take Gary out of it’s slump and make it the Mecca it used to be.
I come back to visit my home town with every visit terribly disappointing as I see what this town has become. Why do you people think Michael Jackson never returned to his home of birth except for one time to accept an award from the city? THINIK ABOUT IT
