Rally Urges ROC to Become "Taiwan"

Over 50,000 marchers in Taipei on Saturday demanded that the Republic of China (ROC) officially change its name to Taiwan. The ROC, commonly but not officially known as Taiwan, recently began issuing passports that bear the name Taiwan. About 30 countries recognize the ROC/Taiwan as an independent country.
