Abkhazia Conflict

Following the fall of the Soviet Union, Abkhazia (which lies along the Black Sea in the Caucasus - map) declared independence. There was a war with Georgia in 1993 and 10,000 were killed. Since then, there has been a tense standoff that is not likely to be resolved.
